Dear Students and Parents,
We hope this message finds you and your families safe and healthy. While this school year is not beginning the way we had anticipated (as many had hoped to beck on campus already), your teachers and principals have been working hard over the break to ensure we make the most of this unique opportunity to learn together with Home-Based Learning. We look forward to the day when we can all gather together on campus and reconvene as a community. In the meantime, we will make the most of our moments together with the opportunities that are provided.
Learning will once again primarily take place via Google Meet and ManageBac, although the structure has changed. For complete details, please see the Home-Based-Learning google site. As for the logistics of the first day of school, please see below:
School will begin at 7:30am on Monday, August 3 with Advisory.
Students will receive an email from their Advisor no later than the end of the day on Tuesday, July 28, welcoming them to the class. You will also receive an invitation to your Advisory Google Meet via your school email and Google Calendar.
After Advisory, you will attend your Year Level Meeting. You will also receive an invitation to this YLM via Google Calendar, this time from your Head of Year.
After your YLM, you will have a break until 10:10, at which time your first class of the day will begin.
Just like with Advisory, students will receive Google Calendar invites from their teachers to join their academic classes. If you have not received those invites by 4:00pm on Tuesday, July 28, please contact your Head of Year.
If you are having trouble accessing your school Google account (@student.globaljaya.com), please contact Pak Zul (zulkahfi@globaljaya.com).
Be safe, be happy, and be well.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming all new students into our Global Jaya community.
During the first few weeks of this school year, your child will complete an online, iReady diagnostic evaluation for Reading and Mathematics.
These assessments are not used for report grades, but instead to help teachers better identify areas of strengths and weaknesses of their students. This data allows them to tailor instruction, materials, activities and groupings to provide each student with opportunities to improve, develop or extend their knowledge. The iReady is one of many tools used to understand each student’s performance abilities, and does not on its own determine placement or progress. The information gathered from these diagnostic tests will be tracked throughout the year with repeat testing at the end of semester 1 and 2. This will enable us to view every student's growth and development, whilst taking any action to assist those who may be struggling. These diagnostic tests are used globally by many international and host nation schools and will be able to give teachers an understanding of where your child stands in regards to ability for their age level.
Individual teachers will be in contact in regards to how the diagnostic is taken but I do ask that you support us in ensuring that your child attempts and conducts themselves in their best possible manner. The more accurate the result, the better we can plan personalised learning for your child. If you have further questions or would like more information, please discuss with your child’s Maths and/or English teachers or programme coordinators. Alternatively if they are not able to assist you please do not hesitate to email me @ jamesm@globaljaya.com
