Liz Sutherland is an 9th year teacher specializing in English Language Arts. Sutherland earned her undergraduate degrees at Coe College in Music and English. She went on to earn her 5-12 reading endorsement and Masters of Arts in Teaching: Professional Educator at Morningside College. She is currently pursuing her TAG endorsement through Drake University. Over the last three years, she has worked in the Glenwood Alternative Program as a teacher/coordinator.
Sutherland is the co-founder of Ramily Matters, an educational outreach group in the Glenwood Community. For her work she was identified as a "School Mental Health Hero" by Please Pass the Love. She is the current secretary for the Iowa Association of Alternative Education and the former social media coordinator for the Iowa Association of Teachers of English. She enjoys coaching performance events (like speech and musicals), reading, and spending time with her husband and dogs.
