8th/7th Grade: We have had fun learning about space. We made rockets and rockt fuel, and will be wrapping up the trimester by making spacesuits to keep marshmallow astronauts safe in the "space" of the vacuum chamber.
6th Grade: Our 3D print designs turned out great! We are now finishing the trimester by making a new toy design. There is everything from sports, to race cars, dolls, toy doctor kits, and everything in between! I cannot wait for students to show off their designs next week.
8th/7th Grade: We are wrapping up learning about the forces of flight. We have done activities with helicopters, glider airplanes, and next will take what we have learned about flight and apply it to space travel, starting with rockets.
6th Grade: As part of our learning in the engineering design process, we are learning about the 3 types of engineering sketches (thumbnail, isometric, and multi-view). We will then learn about digital design and making models with CAD. Students will have the opportunity to 3D print one small design this trimester.
8th Grade: Students are designing a prototype of a daily use object of their design. They the research and design team, in charge of making a prototype of the product, that they will then send to the marketing team, who will make a commercial to sell their product.
7th Grade: Students are practicing their measurement skills to create a skimmer boat. This boat will glide along the ground, using the forces of flight to create lift. We will use our new knowledge of lift and weight to introduce the 4 forces of flight.
6th Grade: We are diving in to the engineering design process. Our first project is to design and build a prototype of an ankle foot orthosis. Throughout this trimester, students will build problem solving and collaboration skills through different projects.
