Bienvenue à la classe de français!
Salut, mes amis!
My name is Kimberly Scott (Kim / Mlle. Scott), and I am very excited to be your child’s French teacher this year at Springman! I just want to introduce myself and open the lines of communication. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. The best way to reach me is via email at kscott@glenview34.org.
Here are some fast facts about myself:
My children attended here, and in fact I am a graduate of Springman myself! (Yes, while Mr. Tosh was teaching.)
I received my Bachelor’s from Ithaca College in New York, and Master’s from National Louis here in Chicago.
I came to Springman from Carleton Washburne, where I taught music, and prior to that taught French at Holmes Junior High.
I am excited not only for our French work together, but also to start a French Club where we can explore more food and culture of francophone countries.
I am super jazzed to direct and music-direct Springman’s musical again this year!
Our French classroom is proficiency based, which means that students will be able to internalize the language and communicate more effectively. In class this year we will converse, read novels, tell stories, learn and discuss about culture across the French speaking world, and much more!
Outside of class, I can see students before or after school by appointment. This is when students can do test corrections, extra study sessions, etc. I am happy to make arrangements to meet with you and/or your child if needed.
I encourage my students to advocate for themselves and email me/find me before or after school if they have issues with their work, class, grades, or classroom environment. I make it a habit to write classwork on the board, as well as post it online, and there is very, very little homework (unless students are not using time wisely).
Please read (both student and parent) the Global Language Policy and Procedures here. It has details of expectations, materials needed, grading for the class, etc. If you have any questions about what you read, please feel free to contact me.
I look forward to getting to know your child, and having a wonderful year together!
Sincerely,
Kimberly Scott
