How to Clean Your Instrument:

Flute

  • swab each time you play
  • wipe outside of flute and keys with lysol wipes or a rag with light disinfectant, especially the lip plate
  • swab inside of flute with lysol wipe or rag with light disinfectant
  • DO NOT soak any part of the flute
  • wipe outside of case with lysol wipes or rag with light disinfectant



Oboe

  • swab each time you play
  • wipe outside of oboe with lysol wipes or rag with light disinfectant
  • dip reed in hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol then rinse with water
  • DO NOT soak entire reed or any part of the oboe
  • wipe outside of case with lysol wipes or rag with light disinfectant


Clarinet

  • swab each time you play
  • wipe outside of clarinet with lysol wipes or rag with light disinfectant
  • spray swab with lysol or other disinfectant and wipe inside of the clarinet, then wash the swab or let dry completely
  • dip reed in hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol then rinse with water
  • wash mouthpiece with an old soft toothbrush or other soft brush with detergent and water
  • DO NOT soak any part of the clarinet or get corks overly wet
  • wipe outside of case with lysol wipes or rag with light disinfectant


Saxophone

  • wipe outside of saxophone with lysol wipes or rag with light disinfectant
  • run a lysol wipe or small rag with light disinfectant through the neck of the saxophone
  • wash mouthpiece with an old soft toothbrush or other soft brush with detergent and water
  • dip reed in hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol then rinse with water
  • wipe outside of case with lysol wipes or rag with light disinfectant


All Brass


Percussion

  • use lysol wipes or rag with light disinfectant to wipe off all parts of instrument, stand and case
