This week we will be focusing on blogging and commenting with our buddy class from Mangapapa School - go to the Tuhi Mai, Tuhi Atu page for our learning in Writing this week.

This week, you will have a variety of writing prompts to choose from. You will write, edit and publish at least 2 pieces of writing this week. The prompts are below
Tuesday - Written Sample + Choose a prompt and write accordingly (read through it as you go and check that your ideas make sense).Wednesday - Swap your writing with a buddy and read through each other's work. Look for spelling errors, punctuation, that it makes sense. Make the changes and publish.Thursday - Repeat Tuesday and Wednesday Friday - Share your writing on your blogprompt 1 - Teeth

- Write the story from the point of view of each man.
- Decide what each man is saying to each other and create a dialogue.
- Write an alternative ending - perhaps one of them catches another fish, one fisherman may fall overboard in the excitement.

- Give the creatures names.
- Why does the purple creature have a peg on its nose? Why are its cheeks bulging?
- Is the large character an ogre? A troll? Something else?
- Why does he have his foot in a bowl?
- How is he feeling? Why?
- Why are there flies around him?
- Add thought bubbles to this picture.
- Which character do you like the most? Why?
- Which character can you best relate to? Why?
- Why is the title ‘Pegged’? Give this image a new title. Explain your choice.

Writing ideas
- Retell the narrative using rich desciption and vivid imagery.
- Write a dialogue/conversation between the two octopi at various points throughout.
- Write alternative endings to the story.

- Where is this? Is it underground or above ground? Has it always been this way?
- Describe the monster. Consider its size, shape, the light in its face and how it moves. How does it communicate? What is it holding?
- Where did the monster come from? Does it live here?
- Did the people in front of the monster come here looking for it?
- Why do they have swords? Are they ordinary swords?
- What do you think could happen next? What is the most likely choice?
- Use this picture to write a short story (under 200 words).
