My mission is to prepare my students with the knowledge they need to become functioning members of society. I want to help my students gain confidence and self-esteem each day and become caring community members who contribute to the betterment of their town. My job as a teacher is to help my students reach their full potential and allow them to make mistakes, as mistakes are how we learn and grow as a person. I must remember that I am a role model for my students, and I need to stand in front of them each day, confident that I am setting a good example.
I believe that every student has the right to learn and that children learn by doing. I believe in educating children about different cultures and celebrating our differences. I believe in letting my students ask questions because I want them to be thinkers. I think that for my students to learn, we must work as a team where the student, teacher, parents, and community are a united front.
My ethical responsibility is to provide each student with quality education and maintain a safe environment where they can learn and grow. I must continually work with the administration and fellow teachers to provide a cooperative learning environment. I am responsible for using my daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly assessments of my students’ achievements to make future instructional decisions.
My vision is that my students leave my classroom knowing they are unique and capable of doing anything they set their hearts to do. As an advocate for social change, I will remind my students and their families that they are kind, exceptional, and intelligent; they can impact the world daily by a small act of kindness. It’s my job as a teacher to promote positive change by teaching my students to be accepting of everybody. What makes us different is what makes us unique.
