Language Arts: Getting to know you, classroom rules and routines, becoming a member of the Forest Avenue Community.

• Listening skills, learning how to sit still and listen to a story on the carpet

• Learning our name and how to write it

• Learning the names of our classmates

• strengthening our fine motor muscles through numerous fine motor activities involving play douch, tweezers, legos, etc...

Math: 

• Counting to 10

• number recognition to 5

• Introduce patterning

• introducing math manipulatives to help with the above skills

Handwriting: 

• crayon grip

• drawing a person with a head, eyes, body, arms and legs

• sitting position while in our chairs

• line formations (straight, curves, slanted)

Social Studies/Character Education:

• Becoming a member of a  school/classroom community/community

• Classroom rules and routines

• Establishing a Social Contract and following it

• Understanding that there are  reward and consequence  used with our Class Contract (hole punch cards, warm fuzzies , card system, marble jar), Thinking Chair
