What's Going On in the Lab?

Unit 1:  Living Things in the Biosphere

MS-LS1-1. Conduct an investigation to provide evidence that living things are made of cells; either one cell or many different numbers and types of cells

Unit 2:  The Cell System
MS-LS1-2. Develop and use a model to describe the function of a cell as a whole and ways parts of cells contribute to the function
Unit 7:  Atoms and the Periodic TableMS-PS1-1. Develop models to describe the atomic composition of simple molecules and extended structures.
Unit 9:  Genes and HeredityMS-LS3-2. Develop and use a model to describe why asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation.
Unit 10EvolutionMS-LS4-4. Construct an explanation based on evidence that describes how genetic variations of traits in a population increase some individuals probability of surviving and reproducing in a specific environment.
March Mammal MadnessIt's like the basketball tournament, but with animals! MMM is a fun tournament where each year, 64 different animals compete against each other to see who will be victorious. Our students participate by researching the animals competing in the tournament and use facts they've researched to make picks and fill out their own personal bracket.  Each week, we watch a series of videos recapping who won as the animals face off in an epic battle. Each correct pick a student makes earns them points and the most points in our class wins a prize!  Click the video below for more info!
