About Me

Hi and welcome!

I'm Mrs. Serhan, current 8th grade math teacher at GMS, and former student at GMS many many years ago! I've been teaching since 2002 and worked in finance before then (until I realized that my life was missing the energy and enthusiasm of 13 to 14-year-olds)! I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Quantitative Economics from UC San Diego, and my credentials in Math and Special Education as well as my Masters of Education from Azusa Pacific University. I also studied in Spain for a semester in college and lived in Italy for a year before I began teaching.

My husband and I live in Glendora and have two children. My daughter Mallie is eight years old and loves dance, all things babies, and being in charge. My son Oliver is six and loves anything that will get a laugh or make him laugh (his poor teachers). We also have a dog named Kylo that we took in off the streets several years ago, and provides us with many interesting stories.

I love to read, travel, and spend time with my family and friends. I REALLY and TRULY LOVE MATH!!! It was always my favorite subject in school, and it continues to be something I enjoy. (I love a great spreadsheet and when my friends text me pictures of their childrens' challenging math homework problems!) My goal for this year is to build your math confidence if it's lacking, help you develop an appreciation for the subject if it's missing, and give you tools that will help you better analyze life situations. If you are already with me in the math love, then we are going to have so much fun! If you're not, don't worry, we will still work hard and have a great time doing it. Either way, I hope your 8th grade year is the best yet and that you are more than ready for 9th grade math!!

I can't wait to learn all about you!
