Drama Course Offerings
Introduction to Drama (1 semester)
Drama 1 is a foundational course designed to introduce students to the art of theatre as both performance and creative expression. Students will explore basic acting techniques, including voice, movement, and improvisation, while also learning the fundamentals of technical theatre, theatre terminology and theatre history. In addition, students who enroll in Drama will receive first hand knowledge and support in audition preparation for extra-curriculars!
Advanced Acting (1 semester - repeatable)
Drama 2 builds upon the foundational skills introduced in Drama 1, giving students the opportunity to deepen their craft as performers, creators, and collaborators. Students will explore advanced acting techniques, character development, and scene study while also gaining experience in directing, design, and technical theatre. The course emphasizes ensemble work, creative risk-taking, and critical reflection.
Drama 3/Improvisation (1 semester - repeatable)
Drama 3 challenges students to refine their skills as performers, designers, and directors while taking on greater leadership in the creative process. Building on the techniques from Drama 1 and 2, students will dive into advanced character analysis, ensemble-devised work, and script interpretation across a variety of genres and styles with a more intensive focus on improvisation.
Directed Drama Project (1 semester - repeatable)
Drama 4 is the culminating theatre course, designed for students ready to demonstrate mastery of performance, production, and leadership in the dramatic arts. Students will take on significant responsibility in the planning, rehearsal, and execution of productions, serving as actors, directors, designers, stage managers, and mentors to younger drama students.
