Elementary Resources

Welcome to our elementary resources page! Below, you will find videos, sample tasks, and supplemental materials that you can use with your students. These are all optional resources that can help keep your students engaged during the time away. A special thanks to our teachers and instructional coaches for all of their hard work in putting these resources together! Please note that if you can't find a resource that used to be here, please check the Archive page. #proudtobeacomet

Are you looking for resources to help talk to your elementary aged students about COVID-19 or their emotions?

Please click here and here for guidelines from our Neff counselor, Annemarie Reik, and here for a resource provided by Delta Center Counselor Stephanie Taylor. Another outstanding resource can be found here from TRAILS, a program partnered with the University of Michigan Medical School, that contains information about talking to students of all ages about COVID-19 and our current realities.

Fun Activities

Reading With Your Child

The most important thing families can do is read together and discuss what they are reading. Research shows that shared reading experiences, in which a child and an adult read together and talk about what they have read, have a positive impact on a student’s vocabulary and reading skills.

Math Games

Another great, and fun, activity for families is to play math games. These vary by grade level and often involve little more than a set of dice. Children play these math games in class every week, and they would love to teach their families how to play!

Here are some great examples from Mrs. Kish at Delta Center.
