Equity & Inclusion
When students read, write, and think in the secondary English classroom, the opportunity for personal and academic growth is multi-faceted and vast. As an English Department, we aim to offer learning experiences for students that foster the development of many skills applicable to stepping outside of their Glastonbury classrooms into the real world. We also aim to be sensitive to any content in the literature we teach that may elicit unique and varied reader responses based on students’ experiences.
The GHS English / Language Arts Department whole-heartedly adheres to the philosophy stated on our district’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion webpage. We believe:
Every student should have an equal opportunity for success.
Every student needs to feel they belong, are understood, and are valued.
Every student has unique strengths and challenges
Every student should be kind, caring, and respectful to others.
