As part of answering the essential question “What was the concept of self in Roman society?”, students consolidate their study of Latin
language control and engage in a survey of literature from various Roman authors. Students begin to read Latin poetry
and become familiar with Latin poetics. Through the study of different types of Latin literature, students explore Roman
identity as expressed by the authors and make connections to their own lives and experiences.
