We encourage all parents of Glastonbury High School students to be involved in school events and activities as their time permits. The Glastonbury Parents’ Organization provides one major way to become involved.

The purpose of the Parents’ Organization is to foster parental support of and involvement in the activities of Glastonbury High School. It also helps to create more effective communication between GHS and its parent body and the community.

The Parents’ Organization works with parents to provide events such as the Safe Graduation Party, Junior Prom Breakfast, Sophomore Block Island Trip, Freshman Six Flags Trip, to name a few.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

These are aimed at Senior Parents but helpful to ALL grades.

What is the GHS Parent Group?

The GHS Parent Group is a nonprofit group comprised of parent volunteers who work with school administration, teachers, staff, students and the community to support student activities. Most notably, we organize and support class specific events. Traditionally these events have been the Freshman Six Flags trip, Sophomore Block Island trip, Junior Prom Breakfast and Senior Safe Grad event. We conduct various fundraising activities throughout the school year(s) to help subsidize these events in celebration of our students.

My child has previously paid “class dues” to his/her student council and/or has participated in school specific fundraisers and events. Where does that money go/where is it now?

Class dues paid/owed to the Student Council are NOT affiliated with the GHS Parent Group. It is our understanding that traditional class dues are used to subsidize Student Council organized events such as Junior Prom, Senior Class Picnic and Senior Ball. Any leftover funds may be considered for post-graduation class events.

What happens to the money raised by the GHS Parent Group?

Money raised by the GHS Parent Group is spent entirely for the benefit of our students. We aim to offer a memorable Junior Prom After Party and Safe Grad Event, at which we provide each graduating Senior with a raffle prize/giveaway. This is made possible by the generosity of our community partners, parent volunteers and donors as well as funds from GHS Parent Group fundraisers.

How does the GHS Parent Group raise money?

The GHS Parent Group conducts various fundraising events each year, leading up to the grand finale Safe Grad event. Previous fundraisers have included raffles, restaurant nights, GHS merchandise, exam care packagesFreshman Six Flags trip and  Sophomore trip to Block Island.

Previous events and fundraisers for our Seniors have included:
