GRANTMAKING

The Foundation funds organizations that work in the following fields: Education, Basic Needs, and Cultural Outreach. The Foundation supports organizations in Texas and, in particular, Harris, Brazos, and Fayette County. All applicants must have a current 501(c)(3) determination letter or otherwise valid tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Act.

The Foundation typically provides annual General Operating Support and Program Support. Multi-year Capital Support can be considered for nonprofit organizations with whom we have current relationships. Our median grant amount is $25,000, and first-time grants to organizations usually range from $10,000 - $25,000.

NEW APPLICANTS

For new applicants, the first step in applying for a grant from the Foundation is to submit a 1-page Letter of Inquiry (LOI) to the foundation office. The LOI should introduce the Foundation to your organization. Following submission, you will be notified by the Foundation if your organization will be considered.

The Foundation makes grants in the Spring and Fall. Letters of Inquiry must be submitted to the Foundation by March 1 for the Spring cycle and August 1 for the Fall cycle.

CURRENT GRANTEES

Current grantees may continue to apply annually on the schedule that works best for their organization. A brief proposal can be submitted to the Foundation by April 1 for the Spring cycle and September 1 for the Fall cycle.
