The performance, hayashi, is composed of taiko (Japanese drum), hue (flute), shamisen (three-stringed Japanese guitar), and kane (bell). The structure of the performance starts from dynamic taiko sounds, followed by hue and shamisen. Finally, kane and the other taiko join the music. Yuzawa Giona Bayashi has five main performances: yose-daiko, gion bayashi ni nobori, sannkudari, and kennbayashi. It has a long history as a performance for the festival in the Atago shrine. Atago Shrine's festival is held in late September every year.
