My name is Rebecca Freeman. I have lived in Johnstown for the majority of my life. I am a proud graduate of Greater Johnstown School District, Class of 2000. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 2004. I spent several years working as a substitute teacher, tutor, and Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) at Greater Johnstown, before deciding to take some time off to start a family.
During my time as a TSS, I aided students in a Life Skills classroom at Westside Elementary School and decided that I wanted to teach special education when I returned to teaching. I received my Master of Science in Special Education, with a concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Drexel University in 2016.
I returned to teaching in August 2016, working for Appalachia Intermediate Unit 08 at Windber Area High School, where I taught in a Multiple Disabilities Support classroom for 3 years. I applied for and accepted a position at my alma mater in August 2019. I currently teach Autistic Support at Greater Johnstown Middle school.
In addition to my awesome students, I have a wonderful husband of 15 years, also a Greater Johnstown graduate, as well as two amazing children of my own. Both of my chidren attend Greater Johnstown. We are all incredibly proud and blessed to be a part of the Greater Johnstown School District.
