What are ELP Standards?

English Language Proficiency Standards

Standards are separated by grade level (K - 12) to coordinate with common core and content area.

Each standard has five levels of English proficiency - pre-functional, beginner, intermediate, and advanced .

The 10 English Language Proficiency Standards focus on language form (knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, and discourse specific to a particular content area) and function (what they do with language to accomplish content-specific tasks).
