High Point's FIRST One School, One Book!!
Frankie Sparks and the Class Pet by Megan Frazer Blakemore
On January 15th your child participated in the kickoff for High Point's FIRST One School, One Book. Each student received a copy of the book, a nightly reading calendar, and chapter questions.
What is One School, One Book?
This is a shared reading experience for our whole school community, including all students, teachers, staff, and families. This gives all of us an opportunity to read the same book, talk about it, and share the joy of reading.
What do families need to do?
READ - Please read the assigned chapter each evening with your child. This can be done by reading to your child, taking turns reading paragraphs/pages, listening to your child read, or having your child read independently and then talking with your child about the chapter. You can even listen to High Point staff members read each chapter on this website!
TALK - Talk about the chapter… What happened? What questions or predictions do you have? What did you learn? How are the characters feeling? What did you like about the chapter?
QUESTIONS - Answer the question for that chapter. Then, turn in the questions on the date for each page. Students will receive a golden ticket to be entered into a raffle to win a book token.
SHARE THE JOY OF READING - Most importantly, have fun as you share this reading experience together!
