Salve!
Upper School Latin | Ancient Literature
ABOUT ME:
I am a passionate educator who loves the classical world and takes pride in immersing students not only in the Latin language, but in the ancient world of Rome as a whole.
My background includes work as a middle and high school Latin teacher at Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction. This is my third year at ACAGJ! I am thrilled to be adding Ancient Literature as one of my classes this year. Further, I have also been running the high school volleyball program as well as the upper school theater productions. I aim to encourage students to challenge themselves, build community, and follow a virtuous path. I am also a proud house advisor: Go Mesa House!
Outside the classroom, I love participating in outdoor activities from canyoneering and camping to skiing and snowboarding. My other hobbies include playing volleyball, taking ceramics classes, and adoring my dog, Poppy.
GET TO KNOW ME
My favorite book is Flowers for Algernon, for the unique writing style and the highlighting of the internal struggle between intellect and emotion.
My favorite subject is Literature. I enjoy reading and reflecting on beautiful works of literature, but even more, I love the discussions that arise from such works. I am fascinated by the different perspectives and insights that are formed by different people when reading the same passages.
What I love most about Ascent is the focus on the goal of excellence as achieved through virtuous and moral acts.
For a sweet treat I love Ben and Jerry's Phish Food ice cream. For a more salty snack I love limon hot cheetos and pizza goldfish. If I want a fun drink I get a hot white chocolate mocha from anywhere or a cherry coke.
