Eric is an Ecologist with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation’s Rivers Program. Eric earned his M.S. in Aquatic Ecology from UVM, where his research focused on the hydrology of vernal pools and how the physical environment affects the bioavailability of mercury in these biological hotspots. Eric first came to Vermont to attend UVM as an undergraduate, earning a B.S. in Environmental Science focused on water resources, and fell in love with Vermont in the process. In his time between degree programs, Eric researched the effects of stormwater on the hydrology of streams in Vermont and worked with the National Park Service to implement a regional stream and pond monitoring program in the Northeast. In addition to his interest in natural science, Eric is also interested in the intersection of public policy, business, and the environment; to this end he has earned a graduate certificate in ecological economics and a professional certificate in sustainable business practices. Eric lives in Burlington with his partner Sharon, their kids, Cullen and Johanna, and in their leisure time they can often be found hiking or travelling.
