Inauguration of
5th Dr. M.V.V.S MURTHI National Virtual Moot Court Competition 2024.
The 5th M.V.V.S. Murthi National Virtual Moot Court Competition 2024 was inaugurated on the 19th September at 11 AM at the School of Law, GITAM (Deemed to be University) duly organised by the GITAM MOOT & ADVOCACY COMMITTEE ( GMAC ) highlighting the significance of practical legal discourse on "CRIMINAL LAW" primarily focussing on "Anti Corruption Law" this year. The previous successful Moot court competitions of GSL were driven on the theme of space laws and IPR. The competition essentially consists of two preliminary rounds, quarter finals, semi final and a final round with participants registered nationwide.
Prof. Dr R Anita Rao, Dean& Director, GITAM SCHOOL OF LAW, delivered the Welcome address.
The inauguration ceremony was cordially graced by Honourable Justice Jasti Chelameswar ( Former Judge, Supreme Court of India) as the Distinguished Guest, who emphasised the importance of a moot court competition as a significant mark in the life of law students in terms of academic and career prospects thereof. He further provided an intellectual glimpse of his journey of judgeship and highlighted the vitality of a Corruption-free society for the present and future generations.
The Esteemed Guest of Honour, Advocate Vydylua Ravindra Prasad ( Adv in practice cum Former President - Bar Association of Visakhapatnam ) discussed the essential stages in a lawyer's journey towards achieving justice and emphasising on the importance of simulation and mooting process.
Other speakers included Prof. Gouthama Rao Yejhu, Vice Chancellor of GITAM ( Deemed to be University ), who highlighted the pivotal role of the moot court in facilitating legal exposure beyond the traditional classroom learning and stressed the alarming need of the hour to promote a corruption-free society.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. ( Dr. ) Usha Amulya Narem, extending heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest for his invaluable time and insights.
Towards the end of the session, the GMAC Team of GSL and the registered participants were allocated their respective fixers for the preliminary rounds of the Competition on 20th September 2024.
