Department of Chemistry was established in the year 1979 as a supporting department to other programs of Engineering. The department is recognized as a research center in the year 2005 and offers Ph.D. programme, which is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. Department has established Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in year 2017. Department also undertakes the consultancy and testing work.

The department is having MoU’s with industries which helps us to have research collaborations, students exchange program, student internships and projects. The faculty members are actively involved in Teaching and Research. Major research areas are Nanomaterials, Ion-exchange selectivity studies, Water quality, Adsorption, Reaction Kinetics, Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Bioinorganic Chemistry, Cyclic-voltammetric studies and Environmental chemistry.

Faculty members have published a good number of research papers in reputed national and international journals and presented papers in various National / International conferences.
