Art Happenings

Welcome Back Folsom Families!!!

HEY!!! I have missed your faces!! I hope you are all had a great summer! !We are lucky to live in such a beautiful state with lots of nature to keep up busy even though maybe we missed out on some adventures hopefully you were able to fill it with new/different things. I filled mine with bikes rides, waterfalls, painting murals, camping, hiking and lots of time with my family. I dearly missed some of the things I do traditionally like going to visit the ocean and 4th of July celebrations but I hold in my mind "this to shall pass" and am grateful for our little slice of heaven!

It was a summer to remember for sure and one that I hope changes the way we see and hold each other dear. I did some soul searching and am committed to providing students a safe space to create work that they are proud of by encouraging choice based art education. My hope is to allow students to explore and continue to refine skills that interest them. I often allow for as much choice as possible but I find our voices even more important in our overly stressful lives. Therefore, I am moving away from teacher lead projects (with the exception of the first few school wide projects i have planned to get your feet wet) and more of a response to themes and problem solving. I will be teaching how to use materials responsibly and different ways to create works of art but the hope is we make work unique to ourselves and challenge what we know. I know a little bit about a lot of things but there are experts all around us and we are extremely lucky to have this crazy world wide web at our fingertips that you can find anything you are willing to look for. SO I challenge you to take charge of your learning and embrace your own awesomeness, I will be right here next to you.

As I mentioned in the in the spring, I created this website to help you discover ideas, try a new path, inspiration, and communication.

Be Well, Be Strong, Be Happy & BE CREATIVE

Love Always, Ms Bedard

Art Materials

We are in a unique situation when it comes to art materials this year. Where I would 100% expect kiddos to practice/learn how to share all the awesome tools and materials that art has to offer, we are in a bind because we can not share things :/ I have ordered lots of sets of materials and but not everything so if you are so inclined to buy some tools/materials for your families i will provide a list of things that you may be interested in. Each student should have an art kit of sorts with stuff that I bought for each kid, stuff that you probably have at home and specialty things that you'd like. These kits will travel with kids but need to have with them for art class and in case of dismissal your students will be taking home supplies.
