Tangaroa - God of the Sea

Tangaroa known as the god of the sea is one of the many sons of Rangi and Papa. Papa is the god of the earth and Rangi is the god of the sky. Tangaroa brothers are Tane-mahuta, Tawhirimatea, Haumia-tiketike, Rongomatane, Tumatauenga, and Ruaumoko. Back when you had to get food for your self Tangaroa was one of the main food sources because of the kai moana. Tangaroa was the only way to get from island to island before planes were invented. Tangaroa is the way New zealand was discovered. It took them three months to get from hawiki to New zealand on a waka called Tu haroata.
