Each day you should be completing a POWER PLAY - involving 20 minutes silent reading, and a 10 minute quick write - then count your words up, identify sentence ending indicators (full-stops, question and exclamation marks), as well as the first two words of every sentence. Use this information to set targets for your future writing.
Work through the Writer's Toolbox modules to support your learning of sentence design, language features, structure, and style, enabling you to strengthen your writing ability. There is also a weekly task for you to complete with instant feedback. Can you achieve over 90%?
Each day, you should be spending a minimum of 20 minutes on the StepsWeb programme. This will help with your spelling knowledge.
We use the Sharp Reading Programme at GisInt, using the prompt 'I Think That Means'. We will meet regularly in groups to practice these skills and complete follow-up activities.
Each week, it is important to reflect on your learning and make a goal for the next week. Answer the following questions in the back of your writing book, don't forget the date!
What was your favourite thing this week?
What is your main goal for next week?
What change can you make to be one step closer to that goal?
Today, what is the thing you are most grateful for?
