Tangaroa - God of the Sea

Who is he, Tangaroa is the god of the sea and all of the creatures in it. All the time, when people fished, they gave back some of their catch to the mighty god to show their appreciation. Before sailing off to Aotearoa, the sailors prayed to Tangaroa to keep them safe on their journey. Everyone knew to only catch what they needed. Usually, when people had lots of fish they would share it so Tangaroa's gift wasn't wasted. Going to his childhood, Tangaroa was son of Rangi and Papa. Rangi is the sky father; Papa is the Earth mother. When Tane separated Rangi and Papa, Tangaroa became the god of the sea. Since that day, Tangaroa rules the sea, it's creatures, and protects the ocean.
