We have been learning about identity as individuals and as a collective.
This is my 'All About Me' creation.
We have been investigating identity and biographies. I chose this New Zealander to research and created a poster about them.
Tangaroa - God of the Sea
This is what i have learned about tangaroa so far. Tangaroa is god of the ocean, Tangaroa is one of Ranginui and Papatūānuku sons. Ranginui is the goddess of mother earth and Papatūānuku is the god of the sky. Tangaroa has 6 brothers,Tāne-mahuta, Tāwhirimātea, Haumia-tiketike, Rongomātane, Tangaroa, Tūmatauenga, Rūaumoko. Rangi and papa made tangaroa the god of the ocean. Rangi and papas sons got in between them and separated them. Tangaroa controls the ocean. Chiefs used to pray to tangaroa to make sure they would have a safe travel while traveling on the ocean. And so there would be no bad storms while they were traveling. That is what I have learned so far and I will hopefully learn some more in the future.
