Tangaroa - God of the Sea
Tangaroa is the deity of the ocean. He's been so important to everyone and this is why I will state what I learnt so far in this summary. Tangaroa's parents are Rangi and Papa, Rangi is the god of the sky and Papa is the goddess of the Earth. We use Tangaroa a lot, which is why Maori often do a karakia before they start sailing. This is because we are land people and we fish and take stuff from Tangaroa. When you see a storm, that likely means Tangaroa is in a bad mood and the waves start getting massive. But if he's in a good mood the ocean remains calm. Remember to always be thankful for Tangaroa and that he allows us to take kai moana. Hopefully you know more about Tangaroa too now! Ko te atua o te moana.
