2026-2027 Newell PTA Minutes
September 14th, 2026
The Newell PTA met with the following members present: Jennifer Minnie, Nate Balcom, Michaela Davis, Robyn Kopeznski, Katie Moul, Danielle Dudo, Corie Snell, and Brittanee McAlister
Call to Order
· Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m.
Reading and approval of minutes
· A motion to approve the minutes was made by Robyn and seconded by Katie
Treasurer Report
· Deposits:
o $.64 June interest

o $144.55 Big Red Treats fundraiser from July
o $1,400 City of GI Parks and Rec Island Oasis refund

· A motion to approve the Treasurer Report was made by Katie and seconded by Robyn
Principal Report
· Sprinklers are in and grass seed is down
· Soccer goals should be back in October
· Newell is fully staffed
Unfinished Business
· State PTA: still nothing from last year and now asked for this year’s submissions
· Booster fundraiser: 17 ducks left, not handing any out until more arrive. Currently at $8,000 in sales and $400 in online donations. Have received $150 from the green alternative donation fundraiser. If we can keep the extra slap bracelets, we will give those out as prizes for that fundraiser.
· Kindergarten signing went well! Lots of interest forms filled out.
· Movie Night: 9/24 at 7:30. Movie is The Page Master. Popcorn bags were donated and popcorn is ordered. Keeping concession prices the same as last year. Will add Gatorade to sell. Nate will send a message that the playground is closed and kids must be with family/an adult. Will talk to Tonya about National Honor Society students coming to help sell. Bagging popcorn at 6:30 and Danielle will get the snacks
· Big Red Treats dine to donate on 9/21. Waiting on flyers.
· Conference meals: sandwiches and chips for Monday, chicken strips for Tuesday. Robyn will get chicken strip prices. Sign up genius will be sent for salads and desserts.
· Pumpkin Patch: Helgoth’s booked for 10/22 from 4:30 to 7 pm. Admission is $6 and includes a pumpkin, there will be some food for sale. We will pay for Newell students and have someone at the entrance handing out tickets.
· Box Tops: $13.20 earned
New Business
· Book Fair: only have $250 Scholastic Dollars and only 1 new teacher. We will look into giving other teachers books at the BOGO fair. Volunteers will get $10 book per shift worked.
· Yearbooks: going with Insterstat Studio. Will be full color with clearer pictures. Danielle will make the pages and the cost to us is $15 - $20 per book
· Chick-Fil-A dine to donate is 10/13 from 4 to 8 pm. Need to make a flyer and we receive 10% of sales.
· Custodian Day is 10/2. $120 total for gifts ($50 for full time and $20 for part time)
