Makerspace Resources

The materials on this page are categorized by the activity type and materials required. However, if you wish to use something you had in mind and/or found on your own please do so. Remember to offer a variety of stations that vary by subject area and type of materials.

On this page you will find literally a multitude of resources you can use with your students as well as photos of tasks students can accomplish with the use of the materials in the TMC lab as well as your own building makerspace. The possibilities are endless and there are even more resources on Pinterest and Google. Simply type "makerspace STEM activities" and you will find more and more materials available for your use. You can also find many how to videos on Youtube for anything makerspace related as well as searching specific items such as "Lego Mindstorms" or "Little Bits."

Student Resources

The following posters (left and right) can be displayed for use with makerspace activities. As a recommendation, it would be best to pre-teach these with students prior to displaying so they can be referenced during makerspace activities. Below is a template that can be used to guide student thinking as they complete makerspace tasks.

Task Cards

In this folder you will find a large assortment of task cards that can be used with permanent items such as Legos, Knex, and KEVA as well as consumable items such as duct tape and other craft supplies. Print the cards you need and display them at stations with the necessary materials.

Ozobot Lessons

The following folder has lesson plans for every grade level for use with Ozobot robots. Click on the desired grade level to view a PDF of all lessons and reproducibles for that grade level.

Sphero Resources

The following lessons can be used with the Sphero robots. They are directly from Sphero website and state on them a suggested grade level and content area to utilize them with.

Knex & Lego Instructions

In the following folder are instruction manuals for Legos and Knex. Specifically, you will find ideas for use with Knex sets as well as instructions for use with Classic Lego sets. There are also instruction manuals to build various Lego Mindstorm creations with those sets.

Knex & Lego Instructions

The folder to the left contains lesson plans that were created by UNL. These lesson plans are for makerspace activities and are specific to a certain content area (math, language arts, etc.) Please look at the overview section in each lesson plan to identify the content area and suggested grade level prior to use.

Technology Resource Booklets

The folder to the right contains booklets that can be used with makerspace technology (Ozobots, Sphero, Little Bits, Snap Circuits, etc.) Select the type of device and identify the activity you wish to use.
