I am extremely passionate about all students having equal educational opportunities and helping others become strong, confident readers! I am born and raised here in Arizona and a graduate of ASU! I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Endorsement, and a K-8 Reading Endorsement. I am also certified as a Level 1 Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner.
I have been working in education for 13 years now. I spent the first 4 years of my career teaching 2nd grade in a small district here in Arizona. I then moved over to the Gilbert area and began working at Harris Elementary as a Literacy Coach. My hobbies include spending time with family, my two dogs, and close friends. I enjoying reading during my free time and I am always on the hunt for my next favorite book.
Here at Harris Elementary my role as a Literacy Coach keeps me busy but allows me to share my passion of reading with teachers and students. I am lucky enough to spend my days working with all Kinder through Sixth grade teachers, which allows me the opportunity to interact with all Harris students through out the week. I spend time working with teachers and supporting them with reading instruction through modeling, co-teaching, observations, planning, and teaching professional development. This coaching model is meant to help teachers learn new strategies, strengthen instruction, and meet the needs of their current students. I also have the privilege of working with small groups of students through out the day to strengthen their reading skills to become lifelong readers!
I am always available as support to help parents/guardians with activities to do at home with their child and ways to make reading fun!
