All About 6th Grade

Welcome to Sixth Grade!

We will be learning many things this year from Ancient Civilizations in Social Studies to Ratios in Math to Various types of Energy, and reading new books during ELA. We will have a mix of direct and small group instruction as well as collaborative work. During the first few days of school we will have fun with getting to know you activities, review Mesquite expectations, and general classroom procedures. A friendly advice about supplies. All students are encouraged to have their own supplies carried in their backpacks daily. We will supply scissors, rulers, and other items when necessary. This is a year of preparing, and practicing for our future adventures in Middle school and High school. Sixth grade is a wonderful mixture of independence, collaboration, learning about growth mindset, and challenging oneself in both academics and extra curricular activities.

We strive to help your student to learn organization skills, responsibility, advocating for self, and communicating positively with one another.

We look forward to getting to know your student, you, and making memories for their last year here at Mesquite.
