As a Title I Math Specialist I get the opportunity to work with various students to deepen their love for math and build their mathematical understanding. Since Harris Elementary is a full Title I school, all students in grades K-6 are eligible to receive additional math support. Title I math support is in addition to direct math instruction provided by the classroom teacher. All Title I math support is standard-based and data-driven. The goal of Title I math support is to provide additional opportunities for students to grow in their mathematical understanding. Pending the master schedule I work with students in most grade levels. I either pull a small group of students during Math intervention or I push-in into different classrooms and work with students in small groups during math stations. I love being able to work with so many students and deepen their mathematical understanding.

About Me

I graduated from NAU in 2003 and have a K-8 Math Endorsement. My teaching career began in Prescott Valley, Arizona where I taught 6th and 7th grade at Bradshaw Mountain Middle School for five years. I really enjoyed teaching middle school students, but being a Math Specialist is a dream come true!! I have been a Math Specialist at Harris Elementary School since the 2011/2012 school year! And I hope to stay here until I retire - which is many, many, many years away!

Outside of school, I live with my wonderful husband, Jason, and our cute little dog, Maisy. I enjoy spending time outside, even short bursts when it's crazy hot. We like going out to eat Mexican food; I don't like cheese, but I love chips, salsa and guacamole! I grew up in Southern California so In and Out is my favorite fast food restaurant with Jack in the Box and Del Taco right behind it. Baked Cheetos and dark chocolate are always a good snack! My husband's favorite thing to do is go on a Cruise, which we have been fortunate enough to find some good deals and have gone on a few over the years!  I love reading a good book, going for leisurely walks with my dog, reading the real newspaper, and working on puzzles.
