2026 Season

We are excited for the upcoming 2026 season! Tryouts will be held August 10th–14th at Superstition Springs Golf Course. Tryouts have been very competitive the last several seasons.

We are looking to continue strengthening our program and roster for the upcoming golf season.

Players looking to make the team should consistently be able to shoot two to three over par or better on nine holes.

An ideal roster for the upcoming season would look like:

Seed 1: under – 2 over par (9 holes)

Seed 2: under – 2 over par (9 holes)

Seed 3: 2–3 over par (9 holes)

Seed 4: 2–3 over par (9 holes)

Seed 5: 2–3 over par (9 holes)

There will be approximately 10–12 spots available this season, making tryouts extremely competitive. We will take the top 5 players, along with 5–7 additional players who may fall slightly outside the scoring ranges above, to develop for future seasons. These players will have opportunities to earn spots in the lineup through qualifiers throughout the season.

Preparation for the Upcoming Season:

    •    All matches are walking 9 holes — building cardio and stamina during the offseason is critical.

    •    Most matches take place in extreme heat (often 100+ degrees), so proper hydration — especially the day before — is essential.

    •    Competitive golf is mentally demanding. Learning how to respond to bad shots, tough conditions, and pressure situations is key. Developing mental toughness and resilience will make a major difference. (A great resource: “Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect” by Dr. Bob Rotella.)

    •    Being properly equipped matters — players are allowed up to 14 clubs under USGA rules. Having a well-fitted set that matches your game is an important part of preparation.

We have been extremely fortunate over the last few years to have had multiple coaches involved with the team. This has allowed us to maintain a larger roster of 14-16 players. Most schools with one coach carry a roster of 8-10 players. We are grateful for all Coach Morford has done for the Highland Golf program, and he will still be available to help on a limited basis.
