The Art Room

Art With Mrs. Chipman for Harris Elementary, Pioneer Elementary and Houston Elementary

Hi, I am Mrs. Chipman and I am so excited to be a part of your learning this year. Art is my favorite and creating things is what I try to do everyday! I love to be outdoors, especially with my family. We like to hike, bike, camp, play soccer, and enjoy time together. I have three children and am hoping to add a dog this year to join in the fun at our house. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you. If you need to reach me, please send an email. My school email address is laurel.chipman and then add the @gilbertschools.net. One of my favorite quotes is "CREATIVITY takes COURAGE!" I hope we all have courage as we face the coming school year together.

Expectations

I am so excited to share an art room with all of you. I think it will be a great space where we can be creative, express ourselves and learn together. In order for that to happen we have to have a few guidelines.

  • When we are at home we will use Buzz to link to a Webex meeting. Each time you come to art it will be a new link. If you miss art, you will be able to go to a recorded session from that day.

  • While in the meeting you need to keep your CAMERA ON

  • You will need to keep your MICROPHONE OFF

  • If you have a comment or question, raise your hand. I will unmute you.

  • Remember we can see you and we are recording, so keep your clothing, behavior and language school appropriate.

  • Have your supplies ready (we will play a game to gather them the first day). We are hoping for a pencil, a black pen or marker, something to color with (crayons, colored pencils, markers, chalk, or paint) and paper. When you come to IN SCHOOL learning you can bring those things with you too.

  • Sit at a table where you can see your computer, but have room to work.

  • In the classroom I expect us to RESPECT each other. That includes listening, language, caring for supplies, and being kind.

  • When we are in class at home or school we must stay on task. We have very little time in art so we need to make every moment count!

  • Finally, I expect everyone to always do their best! Try. If you don't like it, turn your paper over and try again. Everyone who is good at anything had to practice!
