This clip gives a quick overview of the making process.
In groups, discuss the steps taken in harvesting. What other plants do we know of that are harvested to make different materials?
After viewing, create a class processing timeline of the steps of making the tapa fabric.
Have a class discussion about the time and work that goes into making tapa cloth.
Discuss the different ways dyes are made. What other ways do we know of that dyes and plants can be used?
In your class, you will be given a section of this design to complete. We will then display it in our space.
We will be creating our own tapa by using brown paper, black marker and dye.
