About us....

"A hobby gone wrong"

Founded as Giglight in 2017 (previously operating seldomly as Qifop Technical) by founding director Rob. Operating from a trailer with a small inventory of equipment aquired with the equipment stored in a garden shed which also doubled as the office!

2018 and our first Sunshine Festival, a massive leap in terms of size of events we did. It was at this point that we also gained the experience of Adam, an already established local DJ with an interest in production technology. We also got our first van this year, the trusty (and rusty) Ford Transit, our NV57.

Continuing on, with more clients gained - Our extensive knowledge as one of the new operators of Elation Onyx lighting software also saw us feature at the PLASA show, Olympia London in 2019.

We were very excited for what looked to be a busy year to follow.

"Covid19"

We often are heard saying "less is more", well thanks to COVID19 - we definately achieved the doing less part. The entire industry was closed down. Thankfully given we had other revenue streams we were able to weather this storm.

We also used this time to up skill in the audio arena. We purchased our first professional mixer, professional lighting and we also aquired our first LED video wall. One benefit of Covid was A LOT of used production equipment became available at very reasonable prices.

Back with a vengance in August 2021, whilst many events this year were cancelled we had one particular customer who took the risk and it paid off. Sunshine Festival was able to return, and so did we!

We also purchased our 2nd van in 2021 (AF69).

After the busiest year ever, picking up some fantastic new large events such as Lakefest & Upton Blues - we decided our baby had all grown up and that we needed to make some structural changes to the business.

Giglight Ltd was founded on 28th November 2022.

We also started our journey with Allen&Heath sound desks, with our first desk arriving late 2022.

2023 saw a "Rinse and repeat" of 2022! All the customers returned, bigger stages, bigger production - larger events. Everyone was exhausted.

Upon reflection of the two very busy years, we recognised that it was not financially viable to continue to hire in the PA element of our offering or did it give us the control of the supply chain that we desired.

We took the decision to make the largest investment to date and purchase our own largescale PA system, one large enough to service our existing clients but modern, scalable and efficient to meet the limitations we had on transport, storage & power.

This decision, whilst a difficult one at the time would test friendships with our incumbant supplier.

"16th April 2024"

Our friend and supplier of PA sadly passed away in his sleep.

"Always outnumbered, never outgunned"

Phil was the foundation in the rapid widening of Giglight, from just lighting to the all encompassing production supplier we are today.

So many memories, from the Lakefest drum kit incident, to the education on "Peggin" to young Alfie - and the hours lost in the various temporary HQ's (pubs) around Worcestershire - and the ultimate moment at the Blues Festival..."One More Upton........."

He will be missed by us all.

We continued on, and had a very busy albeit different 2024 season.

"2025 - The Next Chapter!"

Not much to mention, more crew, more vans - oh and we moved to an industrial unit in Hartlebury.
