Since the 1850s, we've been laying cables across oceans to become better connected. First, came telephone cables which were laid in the 1850's and were known as Transatlantic telephone cables. This same method is used to lay down fiber optic internet cables.
Today, there are hundreds of thousands of miles of fiber optic cables constantly transmitting data between nations.
