Volunteer Opportunities

If you would like to volunteer in any area below, please indicate your preference on the “Interest” section of the Genesis Volunteer Application, or e-mail our Parent Liaison, Mr. Remy at premy@giacademy.org.

Homeroom Parent

Please consider supporting your scholar’s homeroom teacher with some of the many tasks that quickly fill up their day: planning field trips, decorating classrooms and bulletin boards, organizing files, assisting with monthly celebrations, or whatever else your scholar’s homeroom teacher needs so they can have more time to focus on teaching.

Teacher-Staff Appreciation

The pandemic showed an entire world how difficult it is to teach children every day and reminded us to be very thankful to teachers for what they do. We want to keep that spirit alive, not just for teacher appreciation week, but throughout the year. If you have great ideas, please sign up.

Event Support

Sometimes Genesis needs extra hands to help with various events including set-up and breakdown, clean-up, serving food, managing traffic and parking, etc.

Team/Club Support

All of our coaches and club sponsor need support with organizing snacks and water/drinks, communicating with other parents, and monitoring scholars during practices, meeting, and competitions. Parents can serve as coaches, assistance coaches, Team Moms (Dads), and club co-sponsors.

Chaperones

We often need chaperones for field trips and events. We believe the “village’ is required to watch over and ensure the safety of all our scholars. Teachers will reach out to parents when chaperones are needed.

Rites of Passage

Genesis has created a plan to help our scholars develop age-appropriate practical life skills which includes everything from learning how to tie a tie, to how to change a tire, to how to cook spaghetti. Volunteers who can help teach life skills are welcomed.

Campus Improvement

There are plenty of opportunities for parents who like to work with their hands to lend a helping hand. Landscaping and gardening, campus and building clean-up, or helping to fix, build, or put “stuff” together are ways to help.

Scholar Opportunities

Service is a GENESIS POWER value. Parents can help us identify age-appropriate opportunities for scholars to perform community service and make giving back a lifelong habit. Volunteers can also help Genesis identify field trips that expose scholars to life experiences and learning opportunities they might not otherwise have.

Planning Committees

Parents who are planners have many ways to get involved.

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) - We have a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) that meets with our parent liaison to develop programs that help parents help their scholars.
Board committees – Parents can also petition to join one of our board committees: Governance, Finance, Development, and Academic. Committee members are asked to bring their expertise and interest to planning and policy discussions related to committee responsibilities.
