Message from the Principal

Dear Parents

Another busy week.... Odd Socks Day started the week with a wonderful anti-bullying assembly! Well done everyone! Assessments started to give the teachers a 'checkpoint' for learning. Once these have finished the teachers and I will meet to discuss every child individually and plan the next steps for them.

We have proudly displayed our whole STEAM project work at the front of the school, so please do come and see the wonderful work the students have done. Next, the whole school will learn about COP28, climate change, and sustainability over the next few weeks.

I had the great pleasure of starting dance lessons with all the girls to get them ready for the National Day Celebrations. FS and Year 1 will be performing in one group dance and Years 2 to 5 in another. I am seriously impressed with the dancing skills of these youngsters! I do hope you can join us on the 29th of November!

Next week we will be going out on our Heritage Express field trips. If you haven't paid yet, please do so quickly. All teachers will be going on their trips when it is their turn, so there will be no lessons for those not attending the trip.

Wellbeing

Dear Parents,

On this eventful rainy day, I would like to express some of the good thoughts that influenced my mind. Sometimes difficulties make you feel stuck, you may feel washed away and unable to sprout, but beyond the flood and rain, you will have a sunny day. Each new day after the rain, will help you forget about the trouble you went through being tied up in a hard shell of the seed, your roots will penetrate the ground and new shoots with small green leaves of hope will bloom. One day you will bear colourful flowers and fruits which will be a blessing for the people around you. You are never noticed by anybody as a seed, you may feel as if you are under someone's foot but these rains of difficulties you face in life , will bring out the strongest person in you.

BE PATIENT, TRUST IN THE ALMIGHTY & WAIT FOR THAT SUNNY DAY WHEN YOU WILL BLOOM.

FS 1 & 2

What we've done

Throughout this week, the students in FS have been actively engaged in exploring the lifecycle of a butterfly. They've been enhancing their vocabulary to articulate each stage of the lifecycle and express the observed changes more vividly. Time lapse videos were a source of delight, offering a visual understanding of the lifecycle transformations. Additionally, the children expressed their creativity by crafting their own representations using playdough and showcasing their drawing skills.

In the realm of mathematics, the focus has been on the representation and writing of the numbers 4 and 5, accompanied by the skill of ordering these numbers from smallest to largest.

Turning to writing, the students have been introduced to the concept of rhyming words. Their creativity flourished as they engaged in activities like creating "silly soups" with rhyming pairs and strings. On the literary front, the students thoroughly enjoyed immersing themselves in the stories of "Oi Frog" and "Pete the Cat's Groovy Buttons."

Year 1

What we've done

This week Year 1 have worked super hard completing their assessments in Maths, Science and humanities. We had a big focus this week on reading in phonics, reading captions and sentences using many different digraphs and tricky words. I have noticed a big improvement in the children's reading skills. So well done boys and girls :) In maths, the children have been exploring different ways to subtract. They have been crossing out, and counting back using both a number line and their hands. We even played some bowling to consolidate our learning. In English, we have been learning rhyming words and how to match rhyming pairs in our story the Gruffalo. They also wrote a list of ingredients we need in order to make our 'Gruffalo crumble' so keep an eye out next week. This coming Monday, Year 1 will be doing an assembly on World Children's Day, and we would love if you could join us to celebrate!

Year 2

We have had a very exciting week in year 2. starting the week with a fantastic start with our assembly on odd socks day. Year 2 have been busy with assessments this week. In maths we have been continuing addition and subtraction. In English the children have been forming adjectives using ful and less and writing alternative endings to their stories. In IPC we have been continuing the topic from A to B with children learning about transport around the world and how transport has changed over time.

Year 3

What we've done

This week Year 3 have been working hard and completing their assessments (only English left for next week). In Maths they have started to explore the link between repeated addition and multiplication by identifying equal groups and using arrays. In English they have been working on mastering instructional texts and even came up with their own in groups. Where as in IPC they are wrapping up their research for their project which will be presented very soon!

Year 4

What we've done

We have had another busy and productive week in Year 4.

As well as revision for topics that have been covered throughout this term, we have completed our assessments and began to start learning about new topics.

At the start of this week, we planned our non-chronological report, using the features that we looked at last week . Towards the end of this, we began to write our introduction and the first paragraph of our non-chronological report and upleveled it through our purple pen challenges! There has been some great writing so far.

In Maths, we consolidated our learning of area and started looking at multiplication and division. We looked at the meaning of multiply and divide as well as the pattern we notice in multiples of 3.

Year 5

What we've done

Year 5 have worked hard in their Maths, Science, Humanities, and MSC revision lessons. Trying to remember everything we have learned since the beginning of the term was challenging, but we gave our best in the assessments. In Maths, we explored multiplying numbers by 10 and 100. In Science, we completed our investigation and discovered that fabric cloth was the best material to keep the ice cubes cool the longest. In IPC, we explored the different weather instruments and discovered how they worked. In MSC, we learned about prejudice and stereotyping, with examples to help us understand it better. It's been a busy but rewarding week!

Year 7/8

What we've done

Busy week the year 7/8's had starting with their odd socks assembly. They then went straight into revision sessions, going over all their math, english, science and humnaities topics in preperation for their individual assessments. The students were also involved in a whole STEAM project, so please do come and see the wonderful work the students have done. In IPC, the whole school will learn about a new initiative called COP28, climate change, and sustainability over the next few weeks. Next week we are looking forward to going out on our Heritage Express field trips.

Arabic

We're excited to share fantastic news about our Arabic classes. Our students are enjoying learning and developing impressive language skills. This week, students explored topics like body parts, sports, house, classroom and food. These experiences are not just educational but also fun, enhancing their language abilities. We're proud of our students' enthusiasm and their eagerness to explore Arabic. We encourage active participation and look forward to more exciting learning challenges.

This week in Spanish we had revision in Spanish in which students finished their task on different topic in which included research work and individual snetence making in Spanish also we discussed about different means of transport in KS1 and nationalities and profession in Spanish inculding masculine and femenine . Thanks for you support .

STEAM

What we've done

The students have been very busy in STREAM class this week. The children in FS had lots of fun in our activity decorating a camel, while years 1 and 2 designed and made the Burj Khalifa and Grand Mosque using recyclable materials. Years 3 and 4 started working on their model project on sustainability. Students in year 5 did a great job on their Dubai Frame 3D model. Years 7 and 8 were busy planning and conceptualising their project on sustainability.
