Dear Parents
This week we completed the GL external assessments. The children did their best and we are quietly confident on the results. I have to say that you really do have amazing children!
FS show was amazing. They showcased their talents and really enjoyed themselves (as did we). FS2 had their 'graduation' in ready for moving up to the 'big school' next year. And FS1 collected their medals and certificates marking their transition to FS2. They were all sooooo cute!
New enrolments to join our family are going well. So I gently remind those of you who still haven't confirmed to do so as soon as possible.
Coming Up:
Final internal assessments from 10th of June to the 14th of June
Non-uniform day (5aed) and bake sale (5 to 10 aed) 14th of June - Please send in something for the bake sale for the kids (and staff) to buy
Splash Party 20th of June (towels and goggles at the ready!)

WELLBEING
Dear Parents,
This week I do not have much to pen down. It was a busy week with GL assessments and I am proud to say most of our students did well in their assessments. However if there are some who couldn't perform well my message to those is
A Story of a Pencil ✏ .
A boy named Ahmed was upset because he had done poorly in his English test. He was sitting in his room when his grandmother came and comforted him. His grandmother sat beside him and gave him a pencil. Ahmed looked at his grandma puzzled, and said he didn’t deserve a pencil after his performance in the test.
His grandma explained, “You can learn many things from this pencil because it is just like you. It experiences a painful sharpening, just the way you have experienced the pain of not doing well on your test. However, it will help you be a better student. Just as all the good that comes from the pencil is from within itself, you will also find the strength to overcome this hurdle. And finally, just as this pencil will make its mark on any surface, you too shall leave your mark on anything you choose to.” Ahmed was immediately consoled and promised himself that he would do better.
Moral of the Story
We all have the strength to be who we wish to be.
Hope this story helps you to motivate your children to bring out the best in them.

What we've done
We have had a super week! The children put on a wonderful performance at the end of year concert and we are very proud of each and everyone of them, we do hope you enjoyed it too.
We continued our Space project this week, doing more research on the planets in our solar system and enjoying creating some pastel drawings. We also put up the planets they painted as a 3d display and the children labelled each of the planets.
Our FS2 children completed their English and Math assessments this week and they have done really well.
In Maths, we focused on addition looking at adding with larger numbers up to 20. Next week we will focus on subtraction.
Next week we will be having our school trip on Wednesday 12th June.
Year 1

We have had a busy week of learning and assessments in Year 1. We completed our English and Maths GLs and all the children tried their best and done well. I am so proud of the progress the children are making.
We completed our maths unit on time, looking at O' clock and half past the hour. The children made their own clocks and designed digital watches. In English, we worked on SPAG this week particularly nouns, verbs and adjectives. The children were able to identify and sort words as well as adding them into sentences. In geography we looked at the different climates around the globe and discussed what animals live in the different climates. We have also been busy reviewing different topics from throughout the year in preparation for assessments next week.
We are all very excited for our school trip next Thursday.
Year 2
Year 2 have had a busy week with GL assessments. In maths we have completed our unit on fractions and will be starting our new topic of time next week. We have started our topic of information texts in English and the children were very excited to learn about Amelia Earhart and her adventures as a female pilot. In Science we have been reviewing our learning in preparation for the assessments next week. The children were very excited about learning about money in the UAE in MSC and how it has changed over time.

Year 3
Well done Year 3 for their perseverance this week! They have successfully completed their Maths, English and Science GL assessments.
For Maths we wrapped up our unit on Money (which we will hopefully re-visit again before the year ends) and have started our new topic of time! The children looked at Roman numerals up to 12 which was a lot of fun for them as they enjoyed making the connection to what they have previously learnt about during the Roman Empire era.
In English they have been practising their spelling, punctuation and grammar in preparation for their exams next week.
As well as in Science we have been re-capping previous topics such as skeletons and plants.

Another heavy week of learning, revision, and GL assessments.
I am extremely proud of the progress Year 4 have made this year which has reflected positively in their GL assessment scores. They have really worked exceptionally hard and we are very proud of them!
In English, we are continuing our story of Varjak Paw whilst linking this story to poetry.
In Maths, we have used our knowledge of fractions by solving decimal and percentage word problems. It is fantastic to see how much confidence has grown in the students’ knowledge of multiplications.
Gentle reminder that we still have our internal assessments next week before the Eid break, therefore please ensure your child is attending school.
We have our exciting upcoming trip on Thursday 13th June and non-uniform day on Friday.

What we've done
What a productive week it has been! The children have taken their GL assessment and have performed incredibly well, with their hard work clearly reflected in their scores. Well done, Year 5! 👏
In English, we focused on SPAG and reviewed what we have learned throughout the year. In Maths, we tackled mathematical puzzles, and the children enjoyed the challenge.
In Science, we explored what happens to our bodies during adolescence and puberty. In MSC, we learned about goods and services and their importance.

What we've done
The students have been completing their GL tests this week and further preparing for their summer 2 assessments next week in English, Math, Science, Humanities and MSC before Eid break. Any remaining topics have been caught up and finalised including our topic on coasts for Geography. Proud to say the boys have been working very hard to ensure their best grade for their final year at Al Ghaf. Next week we will be going to Adventure park for our trip on Thursday 13th while Friday 14th there will be a non uniform day (5aed) and bake sale, so dont forget your money! You may also alternatively send something in for the kids to sell. Last but not least we will be having a splash party (TBC) with final reports coming out on the 5th of July!
Arabic
Dear Students and Parents,
In our Arabic acquiring periods this week, our youngest newbies and early ages centered on mastering Arabic sounds and the alphabet. We positioned a special emphasis on quick and long vowels, assisting students to apprehend and practice the extraordinary vowel sounds which are foundational to Arabic pronunciation and analyzing. Alongside this, we added new vocabulary that incorporated those sounds and letters, enabling students to build their phrase bank at the same time as reinforcing their phonetic competencies.
Meanwhile, students in Year 4 to 8 embarked on a culinary journey as they explored the subject matter of meals in Arabic. They discovered about the nutritional benefits of numerous foods, expanding their Arabic vocabulary with terms related to health and nutrients. In addition, they determined traditional Emirati meals, which includes Machbous, Harees, and Luqaimat, learning not simplest the Arabic names however also the cultural importance and ingredients of these dishes. This exploration turned into designed to enhance their language talents whilst fostering an appreciation for Emirati background and delicacies.
This combination of linguistic and cultural training furnished a rich, enticing learning experience for all our students. We are excited to peer the development and enthusiasm in our school rooms as we hold to blend language getting to know with cultural knowledge.

Hola todos,
This week we learned about family members, pets and body parts in KS2 in which students mentioned about their family members also they consider their pets as well which shows their affection and empathy on things around them . In KS3 students discussed about Verb Estar - to be with Pronombres(Pronouns) in Spanish grammar section also they wrote describe the difference between Verb Ser - to be and Estar - to be by writing and reading the definitions with examples . Apart from this students practised for upcoming Summer 2 assessment in coming week which makes them more confident in writing , reading and listening in Spanish . Some worksheets will post on Seesaw for practise at home , Keep supporting and encouraging your children which makes them more confident and fluent in Spanish as per their age-groups .

It's a fun week for everyone in our STREAM class in GPS! The children in FS learnt the importance of healthy eating as we continued our topic in IEYC Healthy Habits. Our students in years 1 and 2 enjoyed designing and creating their marble maze and ring tower toys from recyclable materials. The years 3 through 8 have been busy building and programming robots using interactive Lego Spike Kits.
