🌿 Weekly Well-Being Snapshot – Online Safety & Hygiene Awareness

This week at Ghaf Private School, we focused on two important well-being themes to support our students’ safety and personal development. Students took part in an Online Safety Awareness session, where we discussed the dangers of unsafe online challenges and reminded them to avoid risky behavior's such as choking games and the skull breaker challenge. Learners were also guided on making safe choices and were reminded of the trusted adults and safeguarding staff they can report to if they ever feel unsafe or concerned.

In addition, our students from FS to Year 6 participated in an engaging Hygiene Training session led by our school nurse. The session helped students understand the importance of personal cleanliness and healthy routines to support their overall well-being. We are proud of our students for their positive engagement and commitment to staying safe, healthy, and responsible.

We also had a wonderful morning assembly led by our FS students, focusing on the value of respect. Through this assembly, students were reminded that respect is something we practice every day—towards parents, classmates, teachers, and all adults—and that it helps create a kind, safe, and supportive school community.

What we've done

Dear all parents , 

We had a great week in year 4 in term of different lessons with diffrentiated activities and worksheets based on their topics. In Mathematics, students focused on strengthening their understanding of multiplication and division using the 9 times table. Lessons began with mental maths warm-up activities to recall facts quickly, followed by teacher-led explanations using patterns and strategies to multiply and divide by 9. Students then applied their learning through differentiated worksheets, solving word problems and number sentences to demonstrate accuracy and reasoning. Support and challenge activities were provided to meet individual learning needs.

In English, students engaged deeply with the story of Romulus and Remus. They planned and wrote their own versions of the story using clear story openings, character descriptions, and logical events. Emphasis was placed on using appropriate vocabulary, sentence structure, and punctuation. After completing their drafts, students worked on a sequencing task where they ordered the events of the story correctly, helping them develop comprehension, coherence, and narrative writing skills.

In Science, students explored the human digestive system in detail. They learned about each part of the system, including the mouth, oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and rectum. Through discussion, labelling diagrams, and written explanations, students identified the functions of each organ and understood how food moves through the body. They also traced the journey of food, explaining how nutrients are absorbed and waste is removed, reinforcing scientific vocabulary and understanding.

During Guided Reading, students continued reading the chapter “And All’s Well” from The Butterfly Lion. They read sections aloud and silently, focusing on fluency, expression, and comprehension. New vocabulary and spelling words were introduced and discussed in context, with students exploring meanings, synonyms, and usage in sentences. Class discussions encouraged students to make predictions, share opinions, and respond to the text, supporting deeper understanding and reading engagement. Thanks for your support.

بدأ قسم اللغة العربية برنامجًا للقراءة مخصّصًا للطلاب الناطقين بالعربية وغير الناطقين بها، ويتضمن البرنامج تقييمًا لتحديد المستوى الأكاديمي لكل طالب في مادة اللغة العربية. وبناءً على نتائج التقييم، سيتم وضع برامج فردية وخطط تعليمية مخصصة لكل طالب لضمان تقدمه وتطوره في المادة. 

تم تسجيل المدرسة في مسابقة تحدي القراءة على مستوى الوطن العربي، والجائزة الأولى  قدرها 500,000 درهم. من يرغب في المشاركة بالمسابقة، يرجى إبلاغ معلمة هيفاء. 

يتم إرسال المهام على منصة برافو برافو لدعم الطالب في المنزل وتعزيز مهارات اللغة العربية( الاستماع، التحدث، الكتابة، والقراءة). 

The Arabic Department has launched a reading program for both native and non-native Arabic-speaking students. The program includes an assessment to determine each student's academic level in Arabic. Based on the results, individualized programs and learning plans will be developed for each student to ensure their progress and development in the subject.

The school has also registered in the Reading Challenge competition at the Arab world level, with the first prize valued at AED 500,000. Students who wish to participate in the competition should inform Teacher Haifa.

Assignments are sent via the Bravo Bravo platform to support students at home and enhance their Arabic language skills, including listening, speaking, writing, and reading.

السنة الأولى year 1 : استطاع الطلاب تعلّم حرف الزاي من حيث شكله وصوته في مواضع الكلمة المختلفة، والتدرّب على قراءته بالحركات القصيرة، كما تعلّموا المدود الطويلة للحرف. إضافةً إلى ذلك، تدربوا على كتابته، وحلّ أوراق العمل، وشاركوا بفاعلية في الأنشطة الصفية، كما تدربوا على مهارة التحدث من خلال عرض صورة بقرة وطرح سؤال يومي على الصورة لتكوين محادثة كاملة .

Year 1:

Students were able to learn the letter Zay in terms of its shape and sound in different positions within words. They practiced reading it with short vowels and learned its long vowel forms. In addition, they practiced writing the letter, completed worksheets, and actively participated in classroom activities. They also practiced speaking skills by presenting a picture of a cow and answering a daily question about the picture to form a complete conversation

year 2 : 

 students practiced the basic Arabic language skills by listening to words and sentences related to the lesson letter, distinguishing correct sounds, and understanding meaning. They also practiced pronouncing letters and words correctly and using them in short sentences, and participated in simple conversations by answering questions and talking about pictures. In addition, students learned to read letters in their different positions within words and blend them to form simple words while practicing short vowels. They also practiced writing letters and words correctly, following proper writing direction, and completing worksheets and classroom activities.

السنة الثالثة year 3:

تدرّب طلاب السنة الثالثة على مهارات اللغة العربية من خلال الاستماع إلى أسماء أيام الأسبوع وفهم معانيها واستخدامها في السياق الصحيح. كما مارسوا نطق أيام الأسبوع نطقًا سليمًا، واستخدامها في جمل قصيرة والتحدث عن اليوم الحالي والأنشطة المرتبطة به. وتعلّم الطلاب قراءة كلمات أيام الأسبوع ودمجها ضمن جمل بسيطة، مع التمييز بينها بصريًا. إضافةً إلى ذلك، تدربوا على كتابة أسماء أيام الأسبوع بشكل صحيح، وترتيبها، وحلّ أوراق العمل، والمشاركة في الأنشطة الصفية التفاعلية

Year 3:

 students practiced Arabic language skills by listening to the names of the days of the week, understanding their meanings, and using them in the correct context. They also practiced pronouncing the days of the week correctly, using them in short sentences, and talking about the current day and related activities. Students learned to read the words for the days of the week and include them in simple sentences, as well as distinguish them visually. In addition, they practiced writing the names of the days of the week correctly, ordering them, completing worksheets, and participating in interactive classroom activities.

Y 4 :In our Arabic class for Grade 4, we are diligently working on developing students' reading comprehension skills through regular reading practice. We focus on enhancing their ability to understand texts and grasp the finer details of phonetic structures. Additionally, we emphasize training students in both oral and written expression, where they learn to write words and sentences and express their ideas clearly and accurately. We use interactive methods, activities, and writing exercises to motivate students to express themselves fluently, which boosts their confidence and develops their language skills in reading and writing. We continued this week lesson (an-Nashaat al-Madrassi).   

Y 5:In grade 5 Arabic B we had a quick revision for the last topics they learnt. We followed studying the lesson we started last week (Hawl al-Imarat). It was so funny as we started studying recognizing the Arabic letters students learnt the short and long vowels and, they started to  read comprehension skills through regular reading practice. We focus on enhancing their ability to understand texts and grasp the finer details of phonetic structures. Building up on the fore rules students learnt we are completing our work. students good at practicing and understanding and we can help them a lot. We also started this week learning the colors, numbers and everything about myself. 

السنة السادسة year 6:

تعرّف طلاب السنة السادسة على درس مدينة لندن من خلال الاستماع إلى نصوص ومعلومات مرتبطة بالدرس وفهم الأفكار الرئيسة والتفاصيل. كما تدربوا على التحدث عن لندن مستخدمين مفردات وتراكيب لغوية مناسبة، والتعبير عن آرائهم ومعلوماتهم في جمل واضحة. وقرأ الطلاب نص الدرس قراءة صحيحة مع فهم المحتوى، واستخراج المفردات الجديدة والمعاني، والإجابة عن أسئلة الفهم بما يحقق نواتج التعلم. إضافةً إلى ذلك، مارسوا مهارة الكتابة من خلال كتابة جمل وفقرات قصيرة عن لندن، وتوظيف المفردات الجديدة، وحلّ الأنشطة وأوراق العمل المرتبطة بالدرس

year 6:

students learned about the lesson “The City of London” by listening to texts and information related to the topic and understanding the main ideas and details. They also practiced speaking about London using appropriate vocabulary and language structures, and expressing their opinions and information in clear sentences. Students read the lesson text accurately with comprehension, identified new vocabulary and meanings, and answered comprehension questions to achieve the learning outcomes. In addition, they practiced writing skills by composing short sentences and paragraphs about London, using new vocabulary, and completing related activities and worksheets.

Islamic B

y 2 : In Islamic year 2 as we usually do we started greeting students  and teaching them how to reply to this greeting in Islamic it was so fantastic to start our lesson with revision for what studied before . We went back to our lesson the birth of the Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w) and the meanings of the key words therein. We are working diligently and actively on reviewing Surat Al-Fatihah, Al-Ikhlas, An-Nas, and Al-Falaq, with a focus on practicing surat al-fatihah, as we encourage students to review and practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery. We are currently discussing the pillars of Islam. We are keen to create an atmosphere of interaction and dialogue to simplify ideas and deepen students’ understanding of Islamic teachings. In the coming period, we will continue to build a deeper understanding of the surahs and verses through simplified explanations and activities that help students relate to their daily lives. 

Y  3: In year 3 we as usual started with teaching students to greet others with Islamic greeting and to reply to it. it was so fantastic to start our lesson with revision for what studied before . then we went back to our lesson The Prophet PBUH loves to work.We have reviewed Surahs Al-Fatihah, Al-Ikhlas, An-Nas, and Al-Falaq, and we are currently working on memorizing and contemplating surat al-asr, as we encourage students to practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery of their recitation. We studied the story of the revelation, which added a deep understanding of the meanings of the verses and made the students live with the moments of the revelation of the Holy Quran to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We use interactive activities and open-ended dialogues to simplify concepts and enhance students' understanding of the values ​​learned from the lessons, helping them to relate deeply to the teachings of their religion and apply them in their daily lives.

Y 4: In Islamic this week it was fantastic to start our lesson with revision for what studied before .we went back to our lesson.We started revising pillars of islam and pillars of Iman. We followed the lesson belief in angels. We have reviewed Surahs Al-Fatihah, Al-Ikhlas, An-Nas, and Al-Falaq, and we are currently working on memorizing and contemplating verses 1 to 12 of Surat Al-Alaq, as we encourage students to practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery of their recitation. We studied the story of the revelation, which added a deep understanding of the meanings of the verses and made the students live with the moments of the revelation of the Holy Quran to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We use interactive activities and open-ended dialogues to simplify concepts and enhance students' understanding of the values ​​learned from the lessons, helping them to relate deeply to the teachings of their religion and apply them in their daily lives.

We studied the story of the revelation, which added a deep understanding of the meanings of the verses and made the students live with the moments of the revelation of the Holy Quran to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We studied the story of the revelation, which added a deep understanding of the meanings of the verses and made the students live with the moments of the revelation of the Holy Quran to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We use interactive activities and open-ended dialogues to simplify concepts and enhance students' understanding of the values ​​learned from the lessons, helping them to relate deeply to the teachings of their religion and apply them in their daily lives.

Design & Technology: Inventing for a Better Future

This week, students across all year levels have been busy planning, researching, and designing innovative products and inventions aimed at solving real-life problems—especially those faced by people living in the UAE.

Foundation Stage (FS)
Our FS learners explored the important roles of community helpers. They drew and designed tools using recyclable materials, thinking carefully about how their creations could make community helpers’ jobs easier and more efficient.

Years 1–6
Students from Year 1 through Year 6 began an exciting journey into invention design. They researched real problems faced by people of different ages in the UAE and started planning future-focused solutions. Their designs focus on:

Next week, creativity will come to life as students begin building their inventions using recyclable materials, turning their ideas into practical prototypes.

Hola todos , 

We had a highly engaging and successful week in Spanish lessons, during which students across all year groups actively developed their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through a variety of interactive and age-appropriate activities.

In Year 1, students began learning los días de la semana (the days of the week). Lessons focused on introducing the vocabulary through repetition, songs, and visual support. Students listened to and sang Spanish songs related to the days of the week, helping them with pronunciation and memory. They also completed colouring and writing worksheets to recognise and correctly write the names of the days. Simple oral questioning and games were used to encourage participation and confidence in speaking.

In Year 2, students learned how to give a short personal introduction in Spanish. They practiced saying their name and age using simple sentence structures such as “Me llamo…” and “Tengo… años.” Activities included role-play, partner speaking tasks, listening exercises, and writing worksheets. These tasks helped students build confidence in introducing themselves and responding to basic questions in Spanish.

In Year 3, students explored el alfabeto en español and learned how to spell their names in Spanish. They focused on correct letter pronunciation and sounds, which are different from English. Through listening activities, oral spelling practice, matching games, and written tasks, students strengthened their phonics knowledge and improved their ability to spell words accurately in Spanish.

In Year 4, students continued their learning on directions (las direcciones). They participated in a practical, hands-on activity by walking around the school environment and following Spanish directional instructions. With support from staff, including drivers, students listened carefully and responded to commands such as todo recto, gira a la derecha, gira a la izquierda, and para. This real-life application helped students understand and use directional language confidently while improving listening comprehension and teamwork skills.

In Years 5 and 6, students studied los trabajos y las profesiones (jobs and professions). They developed their vocabulary through listening, reading, and writing activities. Students completed worksheets where they read short texts, listened to descriptions, and wrote sentences about different professions. As an extended task, students described their future or dream job in Spanish, using appropriate vocabulary and sentence structures. This activity encouraged creativity, self-expression, and the practical use of Spanish in meaningful contexts.Muchas gracias for all your support .

What we've done

fs Students develop basic movement skills including walking, running, jumping, and balancing. Lessons focus on personal space, simple ball skills, fine motor development, and safe, playful movement.

Year 1

Students improve balance, coordination, and spatial awareness. They explore different directions and speeds, practise basic ball skills, and participate in simple group games while following basic rules.

Year 2

Students further develop running, jumping, dodging, and awareness of space. Lessons include cooperative games, improved ball control, and working safely with others in team activities.

Year 3

Students are introduced to basic gymnastics and advanced balance activities. They develop coordination, accuracy, and control, while learning to apply rules and work effectively in small teams.

Year 4

Students build confidence in advanced ball skills and begin to apply simple tactics in games. Lessons focus on teamwork, spatial awareness, and improving speed, agility, and coordination.

Year 5

Students develop strength, agility, and precision through striking and fielding games. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, communication, and applying skills effectively in game situations.

Year 6

Students refine advanced sport-specific skills and game strategies. Lessons promote leadership, teamwork, fair play, and preparation for the next stage of physical education.
