The purpose of this English 1 course is to help all students improve their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills in order to prepare them for success in high school, college, and career.

Students will be improving their skills by studying literature and the writing process; over the course of this semester, they will be reading and analyzing novels, plays, short stories, poems, and nonfiction articles. 

All assignments will be aligned with the California Common Core State Standards.
