The School Counseling program at Roosevelt Elementary School's:
Vision: All Roosevelt students will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be engaged, lifelong learners.
Mission: The counseling program prepares and supports students to be healthy, happy, and active participants in life, work, and academia.
Beliefs: Every student is capable of learning and employing their abilities to their fullest potential. Everyone is worthy and deserves to be seen, supported, and valued. Safety, connection, and relevance are integral components of the learning process.
SEL is an acronym for social-emotional learning. SEL is a vital component of your child's personal development. Washington state has adopted 6 SEL standards. They are:
Self-awareness: Individual can identify their emotions, personal assets, areas for growth, and potential external resources and supports.
Self-management: Individual can regulate emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.
Self-efficacy: Individual can motivate themselves, perservere, and see themselves as capable.
Social awareness: Individual can take the perspective of and empathize with others from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Social management: Individual can make safe and constructive choices about personal behavior and social interactions.
Social engagement: Individual can consider others and show a desire to contribute to the well-being of school and community.
