Curriculum

Roosevelt Elementary School's counseling program delivers three social-emotional (SEL) curricula to students: 

Character Strong: This curriculum is co-taught in the classroom by your child's classroom teacher and myself. Each month, the whole school focuses on one character trait of the month. Here is the Character Strong Scope and Sequence.

Kelso's Choice: During my classroom visits to Kindergarden-3rd grade, I will be teaching Kelso's Choice, a conflict resolution program. When you visit our school, you'll see posters of Kelso's Choice around the school. Ask your student about the differences between big and small problems and what choices they can make when they have a small problem. Click here to learn more about Kelso's Choice

Second Step: If you or your child's teacher identify that your scholar may need extra support with growth mindset, goal-setting, emotional regulation, or problem solving, they will be invited to be a part of a Second Step small group. Read more about Second Step HERE.
