HortPark offers several types of space, and choosing between them is the first big decision for a town hall. The right answer depends on how formal you want the session to feel, how much production you need and how confident you are about the weather.
Many organisers ask first about the HortPark multi-purpose hall, often shortened to the MPH. An enclosed space gives you more control over sound, light on screens and comfort, which helps for a presentation-heavy agenda. Ask NParks about current availability, layout options and what equipment can be brought in.
An event lawn at HortPark gives the most open, relaxed atmosphere. It suits a shorter address followed by a lunch or reception, with tents or a stage brought in. Outdoor sessions need more planning for shade, sound and weather.
Pavilions sit between the two: covered but open to the garden. They work well for receptions, breakout conversations and as a wet weather fallback for lawn activities.
Which spaces are available on your date, and can you combine a hall with a lawn or pavilion?
What permits are needed for an outdoor event, and how far ahead should you apply?
What are the guidelines on amplified sound and PA systems?
Where is the vehicle access for loading, and can equipment trucks reach the event area?
Can you bring in external caterers or mobile food stalls?
What covered areas can be held as a rain plan?
Park rules and permit requirements can change, so check current details with NParks and the venue before you commit.
HortPark is along Alexandra Road, with Labrador Park MRT on the Circle Line nearby and a walking link through the Southern Ridges. Share directions, the drop-off point and parking guidance in the invitation, and consider shuttle buses from the office if many colleagues are travelling together.
A park venue does not come with a ready-made stage. Get Out! Events brings its own AV, staging and lighting and coordinates loading with the venue; its Get Out! Events HortPark venue guide explains more.
