Many Singapore EXPO events combine a trade show floor with a seminar or speaker stage. Done well, the talks give visitors a reason to come and stay longer. Done badly, they compete with the show floor and end up with empty seats.
Drawing visitors: headline talks that attract people to the event.
Educating buyers: practical sessions that help visitors make decisions.
Giving exhibitors a platform: short presentations from sponsors.
Professional development: structured sessions for members or staff.
An open stage on the show floor is visible and easy to drop into, but it is noisy and hard to hear. A closed seminar room gives better focus but needs promotion to fill. Many organisers use both: short, energetic talks on the floor and longer sessions in a room.
Avoid scheduling headline talks at the busiest times on the floor.
Keep sessions short and leave buffer time between them.
Publish the schedule widely, on signage, in the app and at registration.
Announce upcoming sessions on the floor a few minutes before they start.
Send speakers the room layout, audience profile, timing and technical details in advance. Collect slides in one format and test them in the room. Assign a host to introduce each speaker, keep time and run Q&A.
Recording sessions lets you share them with those who could not attend and extends the value of the event. Agree with speakers in advance whether their talks may be recorded and shared.
Scan badges at the door or count attendees per session. This helps you plan the next programme and shows sponsors what their sessions achieved.
