An outdoor D&D in Singapore needs a weather plan as carefully built as the programme itself. Evening showers and thunderstorms can arrive quickly, and the decision to move cannot be improvised in front of guests.
Before you fall in love with a lawn, find the nearest sheltered space that can hold your dinner, programme and dance floor. Confirm with the operator that it is available on your date and that you can switch to it at short notice. A fallback that is too far away or too small is not a fallback.
Agree a fixed point in the afternoon when you will decide between the outdoor plan and the wet-weather plan, based on forecasts and conditions. Name one person who makes the call, and make sure every supplier knows the deadline and what each plan requires of them.
Two floor plans, one outdoor and one sheltered.
Two production setups, or one that can relocate quickly.
Catering arrangements that work in either location.
Guest messaging ready to send for each scenario.
Sometimes the weather turns after guests have arrived. Have tentage or covered areas for key equipment, umbrellas at hand and a clear announcement script so the emcee can move people calmly.
Lightning is a serious risk in open areas. Agree with the operator and your production team when outdoor activity must pause, and keep staging and rigging secured against wind.
Even dry evenings can be humid. Provide water on arrival, consider fans in dining areas and suggest breathable dress in the invitation.
Share the weather plan with leadership in advance so they know the evening will go ahead well either way.
